Our Story

A Legacy in Ceramics

From Garden Pots to Global Artistry

Pret-a-pot was founded in 1985 by Nicole Kingston’s parents, who began as a humble manufacturer of traditional garden pots. Over the years, Nicole has transformed Pret-a-pot from its small beginnings into a maker of artisanal ceramics. Under her leadership, the company has embraced innovation while staying true to its roots in craftsmanship and sustainability. Today, our handmade ceramics blend tradition with contemporary design.

How it’s made

How We Do It

The process of how our ceramics come to life.

Step 1

Shaping

Our process begins with carefully prepared clay. Skilled artisans shape each piece by hand or using traditional moulds, creating the form that gives every pot its character. From the curve of a bowl to the handle of a mug, it all starts here.

Step 2

Glazing

Once shaped and dried, our ceramics are ready for colour. Custom glazes bring texture, depth and a protective finish, while hand-painted details give each piece its own personality. Small variations are part of what makes handmade special.

Step 3

Firing

The pieces are fired in our kilns at high temperatures, transforming clay and glaze into lasting ceramics. We often fire overnight, carefully controlling the conditions to achieve the finish we are looking for. Finally, each piece is ready to find its place in your home.
